I Am Art is a free art project run for LGBTQ-identified folk (as well as friends, families, and allies with a vested interest in LGBTQ issues), specifically for those aged 16-25 years old and living in or around Glasgow, Scotland. The project focuses on exploring themes of identity, history and community through visual art, such as drawing and illustration, painting, clay modelling, sculpture, photography, and more! 

I Am Art workshops usually involve things like:

• discussing issues of identity, community and history, how they impact on people’s lives, how they might relate to gender and sexual identity

• a talk with a local artist about their own work in a given medium and how you can apply it to your own art

• a workshop exploring a particular theme in a given artistic medium

• messing about to your heart’s content with watercolour paints, acrylics, modelling clay or plasticine, sketching and drawing, photography, etc.

Note that you only need an interest in art to take part - you don’t need to be a professional artist, you don’t need to be “good” at art, and you don’t need to show your art to other people if you don’t want to! I Am Art is all about providing a place and a structure for young queer folk to explore their own art within certain themes.

I Am Art is free, and takes place every Thursday from 6:30pm til 9:00pm, at the Virginia Galleries, 45 Virginia Street, Glasgow, G1 1TS. (Turn left once you’re in the main door, go through the door in front of you [not the one to your right], and go down the staircase.) Each session is mostly self-contained, so you can attend as and when you like, but attending regularly means you’ll get a whole lot more out of it!

To all my friends on Tumblr, DA or FA who are not Malaysian, or are unaware of the current situation in my country right now.
I need you to see this. I need you all to know that my country does not play fair in elections. My country uses phantom voters, money to bribe people, bringing foreigners on overseas from Bangladesh, Myanmar, Indonesia and the like to buffer votes and in the process, manipulate and lie to them that they will be taken care of. They also try to cover up what is really happening inside the country- so others outside the nation do not know the terrible truth that is happening in it.

They murder those that question them if they aren’t high-profile enough, they silence our protests with lies and call it rioting. Not only that, the police- the very people the nation trust to protect and guard them- also take part in harming the people of Malaysia who speak out. Tear gas. Water cannons. You name it.

Most of you are friends and/or artists from around the world that I admire and respect. I need you to know what we are going through. The world needs to know. You guys who I’ve added on Facebook, this is the reason why I’ve been posting and spamming like mad the things related to the election.

Please know this. This country is corrupt, but it’s people are fighting for it. Please.

I understand what dirty elections are like, I’m from Argentina, and we too have a sucky horrible government.They used to take documents from dead people for elections, and now the president and everyone near her get to steal all of our -all the working class- money. The politicians argue when it comes to disasters like floods that killed people and stuff instead of DOING something about it, they toss each other “the hot potato” when they could actually THINK of ways to benefit the country.

Our president and everyone who has some power think we’re stupid enough to not know that they STEAL AT LEAST 80% of the income from taxes and such. IN A FEW WORDS: OUR GOVERNMENT DOESN’T KNOW WHAT THEY’RE DOING, THEY’RE A FRAUD, THEY’RE CORRUPT, THEY STEAL AND THEY TREAT THE PEOPLE -US- LIKE SOME DUMB PIECES OF MEAT WHO ONLY WORK TO MAKE THEM RICH. They also benefit the “poor” part of Argentina how? by giving them money because they have 10 kids. And you’ll be thinking, how’s that bad? It’s bad because they fuck, have 30 kids and do not work because the state LITERALLY PAYS THEM FOR HAVING KIDS. The president brainwashes this type of people, give them benefits like computers, trips and shit like that so she has their vote next time elections are on. And the sad part, is that they’re at least a 70% of the population.

Let’s not forget she bought almost ALL of the channels and radio and shit to brainwash everyone and make us all think that our country is cool and the politicians are cool, filling the media with trash and cheap shows and less with REAL LIFE NEWS.

It’s really sad how people come to power just to benefit themselves.. I mean seriously, how much money do you have to steal? AND WHY DO YOU NEED SO MUCH MONEY? Do you actually have to buy 100 Ferraris? 40000 pairs of shoes? Do you really need to spend all of our money to yourself and your rich and fatass family instead of spending it on like.. Well I don’t know. THE COUNTRY YOU SHOULD BE IMPROVING?
